Red Hill Field Primary School

PSHE

Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education

The national curriculum states that ‘all schools should make provision for personal, social, health and economic education (PSHE), drawing on good practice’. PSHE education contributes to schools’ statutory duties outlined in the Education Act 2002 and the Academies Act 2010 to provide a balanced and broadly-based curriculum which promotes ‘the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils at the school and of society, and prepares pupils at the school for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life’.

The relationships and health aspects of PSHE education will be compulsory in all schools from 2020.

At Red Hill Field we are citizens of the world.

We learn about the importance of belonging in all areas of our lives and how we develop positive relationships.

We learn about our bodies: how they grow and change, and how we can develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

We learn how to stay safe: we understand the dangers of the internet, drugs, roads, water and people.

We learn that we are all different but we are all equal; we recognise the importance of respect, tolerance and equity.

We learn that there are rules and that we have rights; we know that with rights come responsibilities
